SENIOR AUTOMATION ENGINEER

Job Summary

Candidate must have direct experience in Automation and I&E design using AutoCAD. This is a Houston, TX based full time role in the field of instrumentation, automation and controls design. Scope of work to include control system design, field wiring, and other designs typical of the field.  Candidate must be knowledgeable across multiple design/CAD applications and familiar with principles of control system design and instrumentation design.

Essential Functions

• Possesses minimum 5 years’ experience in Automation and I&E design.
• Work both independently and alongside engineering team to develop both high level and detailed design of industrial electrical systems including: power and signal distribution, PLC/DCS control cabinets, instrumentation, installation details, cable and conduit routing, marshalling cabinets.
• Demonstrate expertise in various design technologies; AutoCAD (2D), CADworxs, MS Visio.  Ability to create DWF and PDF files from work product.
• Report job activity and maintain detailed logs about work activities.
• Demonstrate ability to maintain project directories and version control.
• Ability to meet deadlines working on multiple projects and clients with minimum supervision and taking some responsibility for planning and prioritizing tasks.
• Maintain a high standard of work performance and ensuring that all done is in accordance with the drafting standards of the company and client.
• Ability to create and manipulate MS Excel files.
• Solid communications skills and ability to interreact direct with clients, suppliers and upper management.

Physical Expectations

• Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50lbs
• Must be able to stand, kneel, and walk for long periods of time
• Must pass background check and be able to pass both a pre-employment & random drug test(s)

Education

• Associates and Bachelor’s Degree/Technical Degree preferred, namely in Engineering design. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
• 5+ years’ experience in automation design.
• Ability to read and understand: P&IDs, Motor Schematics, I&E plans.
